CLINICAL ACTIVITIES

The Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Clinic of the Padova University, Chief Prof. F Grego, is one of the leading Clinic in the diagnosis and treatment of arterial diseases, either atherosclerotic, congenital, inflammatory, traumatic, with 30 available beds.

One of the pioneer Vascular Clinic in the management of arterial disease, is able to treat annually about 1200 patients with a 50 years experience in the treatment of ANEURYSMS of the abdominal aorta, thoracic aorta, thoraco-abdominal aorta, visceral and renals vessels, peripheral aneurysms (femoral, popliteal, carotid)

The Clinic treat also PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL DISEASES, where a stenosis or occlusion of the artery in different arterial region (carotid, vertebral, subclavian, innominate artery, visceral and renals, abdominal aorta and iliacs, femoro-popliteal and tibial vessels) may be the cause of life-threatening conditions.

Results obtained in terms of low-operative risk and excellent long term outcomes, make the Padova Vascular and Endovascular Clinic in the top ranked International Centers.

OPEN SURGERY

Allow to treat with a surgical approach the arterial disease in different region of the body. This method guarantee excellent early and long term results thanks to its “direct approach” to the lesion affected by atherosclerosis thanks to procedures as endoarterectomy, bypass or resection with substitution.

Surgical treatments are:

  • CAROTID ENDARTERECTOMY (AS ALSO FOR SUPRAOARTIC VESSELS)
  • CAROTID BODY TUMORS RESECTION
  • ABDOMINAL AORTIC ANEURYSM REPAIR WITH PROSTHETIC GRAFT (ALSO THORACIC AND THORACO-ABDOMINAL)
  • SURGERY OF VISCERAL AND RENAL ARTERIES
  • SURGICAL BY-PASS WITH VEIN OR PROSTHETIC GRAFT
  • LIMB SALVAGE
  • DIABETIC FOOT TREATMENT
  • VASCULAR RECONSTRUCTIONS AFTER TRAUMA

ENDOVASCULAR SURGERY

A section is dedicated to this approach, allow when indicated, to treat in local or regional anesthesia, (thanks to percutaneus access or mini incision) different arterial diseases. Thanks to an ednoluminal route several types of guides and catethers are used to advance and deploy stents or endografts or perform angioplasty. In selected cases custom endografts may be planned to be deployed in more complex aortic cases.

Endovascular interventions are:

  • EVAR (ENDOVASCULAR AORTIC ANEURYSM EXCLUSION)
  • TEVAR (THORACIC ENDOVASCULA ANEURYSM REPAIR)
  • FENESTRATED ENDOGRAFT (FOR COMPLEX AORTIC ANEURYSM)
  • BRANCHED ENDOGRAFT (FOR EXTENSIVE THORACOABDOMINAL ANEURYSM)
  • CUSTOM ENDOGRAFT FOR AORTIC ARCH ANEURYSM
  • ANGIOPLASTY AND STENTING OF CAROTID ARTERY, PERIPHERAL ARTERIES, VISCERAL AND RENAL ARTERIES
  • POPLITEAL ANEURYSM EXCLUSION WITH ENDOGRAFTS
