The Codex de la Cruz Badiano, also known as Libellus de Medicinalibus Indorum Herbis (1552), represents an extraordinary primary source of information on the medicinal properties of various plants used by the Aztecs. The new facsimile edition, edited by Mexican scholars in medicine and history, will be of great help to researchers interested in ancient phytotherapeutic traditions. Given its prestigious medical tradition and the presence of the oldest Medicinal Garden in Europe (1545), the University of Padua is the ideal place for an event of this kind and we hope that it will represent the principle of a fruitful international collaboration.
