Shaping a world-class university - seed funding for digitalization & Innovation

The University Winter School for Doctoral students in the medical area, aimed at an international audience, thanks to the participation of prestigious Italian and foreign speakers, as well as some professors of our Department. The "winter school" is an advance learning initiative from all the PhD courses within the Medical School of the Padova University. Scholars from different countries are invited to present their scientific research to a highly qualified audience of more than 200 PhD students from Padova and from connected PhD program of other affiliated universities.

This year the initiative is even more prestigious since it fits within the celebration of the 800 years of life of the University. The wide topic of the Winter School this year is "Machine learning, biostatistics and artificial intelligence in modern biomedical research", which has been directly supported by the Rector of the University within the 800 years celebration program called "Shaping a World-class University - Seed funding for Digitalization & Innovation". The responsibility of organizing the School has been assigned to the Curriculum of Biostatistics and Clinical Epidemiology of the PhD course in "Translational and Experimental Medicine G. Morgagni". The Winter School will be completely virtual, hosted via the Zoom platform, and it will fit in the week from January 24 and January 28. Each afternoon, from 2PM till 5PM a set of lectures, followed by a floor discussion. This allows us to make our courses more innovative and international to increase the attractiveness of the University and the consolidation of international research networks, offering participating PhD students a chance for interaction and growth even in a period of great difficulty, linked to the ongoing pandemic.
